BRMEMC Jobs: New Headquarters Facility Under Construction

The Blue Ridge Mountain EMC (BRMEMC) is set to move into a brand new headquarters facility, marking an exciting development in the region's growth and job market. The 104-acre property, located next to Young Harris College, will feature administration, operations, warehouse, garage, and other critical facilities.

According to General Manager Mathew Akins, the need for this new location has been driven by the rapidly growing population of the area. The current BRMEMC facility is facing space constraints, which have resulted in difficult working conditions and contributed to a decline in the condition of the buildings and warehouses.

The lack of parking spaces at the current location is another issue that will be addressed with the new headquarters. Akins notes that the construction site has already created jobs for local contracting businesses, providing a boost to the regional job market.

But what exactly can we expect from this new facility? The plans include a headquarters building on a portion of the 104-acre property. Several local companies have been hired to work on the site, including Gray Logging of Union County, Southern Concrete Materials of Union and Clay County, Byers Well Drilling of Union County, and Shuler Clearing Company of Clay County.

The BRMEMC's decision to move into a new headquarters is also closely tied to its partnership with North Georgia Network Cooperative (NGN), a nonprofit cooperative that aims to improve services for business and residential consumers in the region. NGN has been awarded over $33 million in federal stimulus funds to construct an ultra-high speed fiber optic network throughout northeast Georgia.

With this new facility, BRMEMC is poised to take its services to the next level, providing better working conditions for employees and improved customer service for residents. As the construction site takes shape, it's clear that this project will have a significant impact on the local economy and job market in the years to come.
